Senate President Bukola Saraki Under Great Pressure Over “Plot” To Unseat Deputy Ike Ekweremadu
Senate President Bukola Saraki is under great pressure.
And the reason for this is simple – the seat of his deputy Ike Ekweremadu is under threat.
There is said to be an ongoing plot to unseat Ekweremadu who belongs to the rival People’s Democratic Party.
Ekweremadu, a member of the minority party in the senate shockingly became Deputy Senate President in an agreement that saw Bukola Saraki beat off opposition from his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress to emerge Senate President.
But about two years into office and with Saraki now in firm grip of the Senate it appears the agreement that produced Ekweremadu has outlived it’s usefulness.
Talk of a possible ouster for Saraki to further consolidate his power is on.
And pressure are said to be erupting all around the Senate President by different factions to protect their interests in the affair.
Amongst other things, the PDP are threatening to go on the offensive should Ekweremadu losses his office.
While the Senate President’s new associates in the Senate and those he wants to secure their loyalties are said to be keen to take over ‘’deputy senate president chair’’.
‘’Its a tight rope Saraki is walking. He is under immense pressure, it will be interesting to see how he gets out of it’’ a source stated.
