assured residents that the state remains safe, secure, and under control
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has assured residents that the state remains safe, secure, and under control despite the recent political crisis and the declaration of a state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statewide address, Governor Fubara emphasized his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the well-being of all Rivers people. He reaffirmed that his leadership had prioritized security, development, and stability since assuming office and would continue to do so despite ongoing political tensions.
“Even in the face of challenges, governance has not stopped. Salaries have been paid, projects are ongoing, and our state remains peaceful. We will continue to engage with all relevant institutions to strengthen democracy and ensure Rivers State thrives,” Fubara stated.
The governor expressed disappointment over the role of some political actors, particularly members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, whom he accused of frustrating genuine efforts to foster peace and progress. However, he maintained that his administration had acted in good faith, implementing peace agreements and complying with judicial rulings to stabilize the state.
Calling for calm, he urged Rivers people to remain law-abiding and resilient. “We have always been a strong and united people. We will face this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process,” he assured.
Governor Fubara concluded his address by reaffirming his commitment to the people of Rivers State and calling for continued support to navigate the current political challenges. “Rivers State will overcome this phase and emerge stronger. Our focus remains on the security and prosperity of our people,” he declared.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes remain on the next steps for Rivers State and its leadership.
