Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Ibikunle Amosun do not enjoy the best of rapport – though insiders insist the passion fueling their differences has simmered.
Emerging details have, however, revealed the role of Senator Remi Tinubu in the quarrel between her husband, Asiwaju Tinubu, and former Governor Amosun.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered that since Amosun returned to the Senator in 2019 – after serving as Governor of Ogun State from May 2011 to May 2019 – Remi Tinubu has utilized every chance meeting to sue for peace meeting the former governor and her husband.
” Senator Tinubu always asks Senator Amosun when he will make peace with Asiwaju Tinubu, providing reasons they should be at peace. She has been unrelenting and this has really helped to simmer the heat of the antagonism between the warring parties.” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Amosun’s goodwill visit to Tinubu when he went for knee surgery and the open embrace they shared at the March 26, 2022 convention of their party – All Progressives Congress – are described as very telling signs of their new ‘relationship”.
Senator Amosun,64, and Asiwaju Tinubu, 70, found themselves in opposing caucuses within the APC engaging in what was tagged an “extreme fight for survival” with the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as President in 2015.
Amosun based on extraordinary closeness to the President and key figures in his circle of advisers became the eyes and ears of the Presidency in his region putting Asiwaju who is credited with a larger-than-life role in Buhari becoming president on the backfoot.
Edged on by those profiting from the situation, the two became “don’t see eye to eye on how to get things done“.
Asiwaju Tinubu, however, had the last laugh by scuttling Amosun’s all-out plot to install his choice Akinalde as successor in 2019.
Tinubu’s “candidate” Dapo Abiodun won the APC gubernatorial ticket and the election – beating Amosun’s man Akinlade on the two fronts.
The development further heated ‘political hostility” between Amosun and Asiwaju Tinubu until Senator Remi Tinubu toned-down things with how she has been engaging the former Governor since his return to the Senate in 2019.
