Insiders say the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, is subtly inching toward a political truce with his predecessor, Ibikunle Amosun.

The development comes after about seven years of conflict.

The two have been at political odds since 2018, with Amosun strongly opposing Abiodun’s emergence as governor in 2019 and his re-election in 2023.

Abiodun, in turn, sidelined Amosun’s influence within the official All Progressives Congress in the state after assuming office in 2019.

Before their fallout, they were close associates, with Abiodun playing an active role in Amosun’s administration as governor from 2011 until late 2017.

Their political rivalry, which later became personal, reportedly has its roots in Amosun’s preference for another candidate as his successor.
