Former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has expressed confidence in the ability of his political group, Omoluabi Progressives, to deliver responsible leadership in the state ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Aregbesola made the declaration on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the monthly stakeholders’ meeting of the Omoluabi Progressives in Ilesa.
He commended members of the group for their unwavering commitment, resilience, and steadfastness in advancing the progressive ideology.
“I am more than happy that our members have remained steadfast and resilient in our mission to further entrench the progressive ideology in our dear state. I am proud of them,” Aregbesola stated.
The former governor also emphasized the need for continuous mobilization of grassroots politicians into the group, underscoring the importance of strengthening the structure ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial race.
He reaffirmed his belief in the group’s chances of emerging victorious, stating that their vision for Osun remains unwavering.
“The dream is big, and we are more than convinced that God is with us. Our belief that we will triumph at the end is so strong. We also stand united as we continue to preach our core values of integrity, courage, character, and competence. Our journey to the promised land is non-negotiable,” he declared.
The Omoluabi Progressives, a political tendency within the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC), has been positioning itself as a major force in the state’s political landscape, with Aregbesola at the forefront of its activities.
With the 2026 governorship election on the horizon, the group’s strategy and growing grassroots mobilization efforts signal an intense political contest in Osun.
