There is a growing grumbling and anger among some of the primary school teachers and local government workers in Ogun state.

This development is attributed to non-payment of salaries despite the release of funds by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

“What is happening is that some workers have been paid, while some are yet to be paid. More numbers of the primary school teachers are affected. And this is not the first time this anomaly is happening”according to those in the know.

Insiders disclosed that the issue started in July 2024, after the introduction of a payment that was initially ensuring quick receipt of salaries across board.

“While some of the issues for the month of July were resolved, It is sad that some primary school teachers with outstanding cases are suffering the same along with new persons for the month of August” information at hand revealed.

Abeokuta South, Ikenne and Sagamu local government areas are highlighted as some of the places work of the persons afflicted by the anomaly that does not affect the people in employment of the state.

Added revelations have it that the appeals are being made to the people in power – including the Governor and the Secretary to the Government, Tokunbo Talabi – to address the situation, especially regarding those with two outstanding salaries. A situation said to be more among primary school teachers than council workers.

“The cases of non-payment of salaries among council workers is not as much as that of primary school teachers because the Ogun state branch of NULGE (  Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees) is unrelenting with such things.  The association taking the government to task through the SSG (Tokunbo Talabi) over the issues with the July salary resolved many cases in their ranks and limited a re-happening to their members”according to information here and there.

“It is obvious that the Governor has done his part by releasing the fund, because other people have gotten their salaries. The general belief is that the issue is with the payment platform or banks but appeals are being made to the Governor as well as the SSG to resolve the situation as the workers pay masters” a source disclosed.
