No More Hurdles! Oyo Court Okays PDP National Convention, Tells INEC To Monitor
scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025,
An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has cleared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to go ahead with its Elective National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
In a ruling delivered on Monday, November 3, 2025, Justice A. L. Akintola dismissed attempts to halt the exercise and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deploy its officials to monitor and observe the convention to ensure transparency and adherence to electoral laws.
The decision followed a suit marked I/1336/2025, filed by Folahan Malamo Adelabi, an aspirant for the position of Deputy National Organizing Secretary.
The court directed that neither the party nor its agents should truncate, frustrate, or disrupt the approved guidelines, timetable, and schedule of activities for the convention.
Justice Akintola further ordered the Chairman of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, to proceed with all necessary arrangements for the event.
The judgment effectively removes all legal barriers ahead of the party’s major gathering, paving the way for over 3,000 delegates, including governors, National Assembly members, and other key stakeholders from across the country, to converge on Ibadan for the decisive convention.
