Awùjalè of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has joined his ancestors at the age of 91.

The monarch passed away on Sunday, a few hours after the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari was announced.

Adetona ascended the throne in 1960 and was one of the longest-serving traditional rulers in Nigeria.

He was known to have maintained a long-standing relationship with Buhari, dating back several decades.

Details about funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Ogun state government and the royal family.
