Telecoms data giant, Globacom, has released another first for data users in line with its reputation for enriching the network experience of its customers. The new product which promises to score high with data savvy Nigerians will ensure that the cyber crowd stay connected anytime of the day and any hour of the night, even if they run out of airtime.
The new product, known as Glo Borrow Me Data, was unveiled on Tuesday in Lagos. At the same occasion, Globacom repackaged three other products and services.
Throwing light on Borrow Me Data, Globacom’s Head, Usage and Retention, Mr. Sola Arowogbadamu, announced that all subscribers can enjoy Borrow Me Data once they meet the criterion on how long they have been on the Glo network and their average monthly data usage.

With Glo Borrow Me Data, subscribers can receive data packages up to 2GB on credit from the network depending on previous average data subscriptions. This facility comes in very handy whenever the subscriber’s data plan is exhausted and he may not have ready access to airtime to renew the plan.

To use the new product, Globacom said all the subscriber needs to do is to dial *321# and make his choice from the popped-up options. The customer would be required to repay the Data credit on his next airtime recharge.

Globacom also announced that the products it enhanced and reloaded based on their huge succeses are 11k Per Second for All, new IDD Packs and Double Free Tomorrow.

Explaining 11k/s for All, Arowogbadamu described it as a simple flat tariff plan which allows customers to enjoy heavily reduced call rate on local and international calls. Under the plan, calls are charged at 11k/s to all local networks and 30 top international destinations. The destinations are United Kingdom, United States, Canada, South Africa, India, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel and Australia. Others are Bangladesh, Brunei, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, French Guiana, Guam, Luxembourg, Malta, Mongolia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Puerto Rico, Reunion Island, Romania and Singapore.
Globacom explained that new and existing customers can use the new call rate which attracts an access fee of N5 per day. To migrate to this new plan, he said customers should dial *211#.

Also unveiled at the occasion is the repackaged New IDD Packs which cover calls made from Nigeria to 30 major international destinations for as low as N6.60 per minute. The new IDD Packs come in denominations of IDD 100, IDD 200, IDD 500 and IDD 1,000. The IDD 100 gives the subscriber 12 minutes of call valid for 3 days, while IDD 200 gives 24 call minutes for 7 days.

The IDD 500 bundle gives 60 minutes of call for 14 days, while the fourth bundle, IDD 1000, will avail the user 150 call minutes valid for 30 days.

According to Globacom, the New IDD Packs cover 30 destinations including United States, prominent among which are Canada, South Africa, India, China, United Kingdom and Japan.
The next offer, Double Free Tomorrow, gives back to the subscriber 200% of whatever is spent on calls, SMS or data today to use for free the next day. In the re-worked offer, the airtime a subscriber used in a day for internet services, phone calls and SMS is calculated and he is credited with double this value at the start of the next day. The offer will now be the default for all new customers using a Glo line.

Mr. Arowogbadamu said the doubled credit can be used for anything including browsing or calls and SMS to Glo and non-Glo lines. The bonus can also be used for International calls to popular countries such as US, UK (fixed), Canada, China and India.

“With Glo Double Free Tomorrow, customers get back double benefits free the next day. In other words, when they spend more today, they get much more tomorrow. For instance, if a subscriber on the Glo network uses N500 credit in a day on calls, SMS and data, Glo will give back N1,000 credit to the subscriber the very next day to call all networks, SMS and browse free,” he stated. To enjoy the service, subscribers are to dial *300#, Globacom declared.

“The offer is for all existing prepaid customers and those who join the network subsequently”, it concluded.
