Details As Police Tightens Security Net Around Gov Wike In Edo As Voting Continues

Societynow.ng gathered that the police have tightened security around net around the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
A reporter of the television station AIT disclosed during a live commentary on the ongoing gubernatorial election monitored by societynow.ng.
Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba was a guest on the show when the report was made.
The report has it that an additional team of police officers have surrounded the Wike is lodged and patrol vans now on the premises of the hotel.
The report also has it that AIT crew and other media teams have been denied access to Governor Wike.
The reporter made the disclosures during the live commentary on the programme tagged ‘’Edo Guber Election…Report and Analysis’’
Wike is in Edo state as the National Campaign Council Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
He was placed on security watch and his movement was restricted to the hotel in lodged in the state capital Benin City since yesterday, Friday, September 18, 2020.
The Governor claimed the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Abubakar deployed about 300 policemen to surround the hotel and keep him and other PDP chieftains at the place after he rebuffed the request to leave Edo State.
Force Public Relations Frank Mba commenting on the development during live broadcast disclosed he is not in a position to confirm whether the discussion between Wike and the Inspector General of Police took place.
Mba, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, however, asserted that all the actions taken by the police in Edo state are aimed at providing the integrity of the ongoing gubernatorial election.
