Governor Dapo Abiodun Confirms 2 New Covid-19 Cases, Provides Brief But Detailed Situation Report

As at 11:25pm, 18th April, 2020, the Ogun State Ministry of Health announced 2 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the State, bringing to total, 12 confirmed cases (9 males; 3 females) at the time.

The 2 new cases are contacts of an earlier case who has international travel history, and the patients are currently under close monitoring in one of the Isolation Centres in the State.

Equally, all close contacts of the 2 patients have been promptly identified and placed under observation, while authorities continue contact tracing to identify and quarantine all other possible contacts.

The State has 7 imported cases out of the 12, with 5 international travel histories and 2 local travel histories (Lagos). The 5 other cases are local contacts.

So far, 210 contacts across 6 local government areas are currently under commentpp. The LGAs include, in a descending order of concentration: Ipokia (73), Sagamu (71), Ewekoro (39), Yewa South (24), Obafemi Owode (3) and Odogbolu (3).

However, in addition to the 9 confirmed cases scattered across these LGAs, 3 confirmed cases have emerged from Ikenne LGA, making it the 7th affected LGA.
