Arrested In April, Granted Bail In June Ex Presidential Aide Waripamowei Dudafa Remains In Prison Custody As Estranged Godmother Dame Patience Jonathan Moves To Claim Hidden $20m In His Account

Information filtering in reveal that former Presidential aide, Waripamowei Dudafa is still in prison custody.
And this development is attributed to inability to perfect his bail conditions.
The former Special Assistant to immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan is undergoing prosecution for a 23-counts charge that revolve around a N5.1billion Fraud.
He was arraigned at federal High Court in Lagos on June 15 2016 and later granted bail on June 20 2016.
But he has found it hard to perfect his bail conditions and currently languishes in Ikoyi Prison in the midst of raging talks abandonments by friends and family careful not to be roped into his current travails.
Ironically before he was arraigned and secure bail, he had spent weeks in detention after his initial arrest on his way out of the country.
The formerly underground presidential aide and touted Bayelsa gubernatorial candidate was arrested by the Muritala Muhammed International Airport by the State Security Service who grilled him before he was handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on April 18 2016
Dudafa was committed to bail in the sum of N500m with Two sureties. The Judge specified the Sureties must have landed properties within the jurisdiction of the court and the accused persons must deposit their international passports with the court’s Deputy Chief Registrar.
Dudafa is undergoing prosecution along with two others Taiwo Ebenezer and Olugbenga Isaiah who were committed to bail in N250m each with same conditions as the former presidential aide.
Revelations coming to town have it that Dudafa’s travail does not end with inability to perfect his freedom, rather has leaped frog into protecting his stashed funds.
Information available revealed former first lady, Dame Patience Goodluck has moved to claim a $20m deposit stashed in one of the companies registered by in custody ex gubernatorial aspirant.
According to report monitored on news platform, thestreetjournal Mrs Jonathan’s lawyers are claiming the deposit in the account of a company registered by Duafada belongs to their client.
The account said to be domiciled in Skye Bank is said to contain $20m.
Thestreetjournal reports checks it conducted at the Corporate Affairs Commission revealed the company which owns the account has the name of Dufada’s House help and Driver as Directors.

Though the pretext under which the First Lady is claiming the fund is still being investigated by the agency in charge of the case, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – words on the street traced it to unfinished businesses that tarnished the relationship between Dudafa and the Jonathans.
According to sources Dudafa was Mrs Jonathan’s choice to replace Seriake Dickson as Govenor of Bayelsa state.
He was provided funds to contest with the backing of the Presidency via the First Lay but the plot didn’t work out as planned.
Dudafa was directed to return funds made available to him to prosecute his unfulfilled ambition but he refused – and things went south between them.
‘’they remained estranged till he was arrested..and now moves are being made to recover all the funds he stashed away while he is in chains and struggling to free himself rather than further compound his woes with self indictment’’ a source stated.
The embattled ex presidential aide is said to have refunded some N1.5billion before he was arraigned by the EFCC in court.
Added revelation has it that, his estrangement with the Jonathan’s is one of the major reasons he is still in custody – the former presidential adviser as a favoured ‘’son’’ of the then powerful first lady was said to have alienated a lot of party chieftain and supporters that refused to bend to his influence.
Sources claim his current situation is seen as a payback time for past infractions.
