Abiodun Gifts Ogun Council Bosses SUVs To ‘Function More Effectively’

Governor Dapo Abiodun has reinforced his administration’s commitment to effective grassroots governance with the presentation of Sports Utility Vehicles to chairmen of the 20 local government areas in Ogun State.

The presentation, which took place in Abeokuta as part of the Christmas festivities, was described as a fulfilment of the governor’s promise to equip local councils with the tools needed to function more efficiently and remain closer to the people.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor commended the council chairmen for their efforts in delivering tangible dividends of democracy at the grassroots level. He stressed that strong collaboration between the state and local governments remains key to improving the welfare and quality of life of residents across the state.

Responding on behalf of the chairmen, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ogun State chapter, Dr. Mrs. Afolasade Adeyemo, expressed appreciation to the governor, describing the gesture as timely and highly commendable. She noted that the vehicles would significantly enhance access to rural communities and improve service delivery.

Adeyemo also highlighted the governor’s strides across critical sectors such as education, housing, healthcare, and road infrastructure, reaffirming the support of local government chairmen for the administration’s development agenda.
