EX-Lagos NURTW Chairman MC Oluomo Grabs New Position
He announced the position
The former state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos, Musiliu Akinsanya, has “secured” a new position.
The transport union boss, famously known as MC Oluomo, is now branded as the “designated president” of the NURTW.
He announced the position on social media after attending a meeting as part of the NURTW delegation to the International Transport Workers Federation in London, United Kingdom (U.K).
He listed some of the attendees at the meeting, which was held on September 11, 2024, as:
Alh. Najeem Usman Yasin, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NURTW
Alh. Aliyu Issa Ore, Acting President, NURTW
Alh. Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya “MC Oluomo”, Designated President, NURTW
Alh. Bello Zubairu Mohammed Maiduganari, National Treasurer, NURTW
Adedamola Oyebode Salami, Head of Finance, NURTW National Headquarters.

The NURTW President is the national leader of the formidable transport union body—a position MC Oluomo is aiming for, though his path is hampered by legal disputes and threats of strike action due to strong opposition from the Joe Ajaero-led Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which supports the continued stay of embattled President Ibikunle Baruwa.
MC Oluomo, who left office as Lagos NURTW Chairman in January 2024, under the cloud of a failed attempt to remain in office until he became President, has largely stayed involved in activities at the national level to maintain his relevance in the transport union.
The former Lagos state chapter chairman’s self-styled position of “designated president” has not been officially announced by the NURTW, nor has it been attributed to him in any form of communication by the transport union body.
