World Humanitarian Day: Access Holdings Champions Volunteerism and Lasting Social Impact
to advancing a culture of service and sustainable community impact.
As the world marked World Humanitarian Day on August 19, Access Holdings restated its commitment to advancing a culture of service and sustainable community impact.
The day, set aside globally to honour the courage and compassion of people dedicated to humanitarian service, provided the group an opportunity to emphasise that true corporate success must translate into progress for the communities in which it operates.
Access Holdings explained that its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda are designed with a long-term vision of building resilience and improving lives.

The company noted that humanitarian service, for it, is not a seasonal initiative but a culture embedded in its operating DNA.
One of the central pillars of this approach is its mandatory employee volunteer programme, which requires every staff member, irrespective of role or seniority, to contribute time and skills to community development initiatives. Through this framework, employees participate in projects spanning education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and environmental restoration.
These include mentorship and skills training for young people, supporting health clinics and awareness campaigns, providing tools and training for entrepreneurs, and engaging in tree-planting, clean-up drives, and sustainable farming programmes.
According to the group, the focus is not only on emergency response during disasters or crises but also on steady, deliberate actions that strengthen systems and enable communities to recover stronger. In this regard, Access Holdings works closely with NGOs, local governments, and community leaders to ensure that its interventions are relevant, sustainable, and scalable.

The company highlighted examples such as rehabilitating schools after floods, supporting displaced families with livelihood opportunities, and delivering health education in rural areas as part of its long-term impact strategy.
Marking the day, Access Holdings urged individuals, businesses, and policymakers to embrace the spirit of service, stressing that humanitarian action is a collective duty that goes beyond aid agencies.
It reaffirmed its commitment to keeping humanity at the centre of all its operations, declaring that for the group, humanitarian service is not an event or campaign but a way of doing business every day.
