Emerging details have it that loyalists of Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo better known as Sunday Igboho are soliciting funds.

Sunday Igboho is in detention in the Benin Republic where he was arrested while trying to travel to Germany in a bid to evade the clutches of the Nigerian Government.

He is undergoing prosecutions over the man he got into the country and alleged conduct in the course of his arrest.

Societynow.ng, however, gathered that the solicitation for fund from the public by loyalists of Igboho has nothing to do with his travails in the Benin Republic.

Plea for the public for monetary donations is said to be part of efforts to help Igboho’s aides arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS) secure bail.

The aides – 12 of them – were arrested when a combined team of security operatives led by the DSS stormed Igboho’s residence in Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State in a midnight raid.

The arrested aides were granted bail by the court after about a month in detention.

Igboho’s loyalists are pleading for public donations to help the detained aides meet the monetary condition attached to their bail.

Spokesperson Olayomi Koiki in a statement titled “Emergency bail contributions for 12 Yoruba agitators in Abuja” explained the reason behind the plea.

The statement released today, Friday, August 6, 2021 reads in part “..accounts were prepared to temporarily raise funds needed to move our people arrested at Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho’s house out of the bondage of the Nigerian Government before the close of business on Monday 9th August 2021.”

“..Our Legal Adviser has promised to supervise the utilisation of the funds for the purpose which it was created for.

“We hereby call on all Yoruba Sons and Daughters Worldwide to support this drive.

“The account is strictly for the BAIL of the 12 people arrested in Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho’s Ibadan Residence on July 1st, 2021.”
