Why It Is Not All Gloom For Owners Of Automart, Houses Razed In NNPC Filling Station Fire Incident In Lagos

Emerging details reveal it that it is not all gloom for the owners of the NNPC Filling Station on College Road Ogba, Lagos razed by fire, and the car mart beside it as well as the residential buildings that suffered the same fate earlier today – Monday, April 27, 2020.

Societynow.ng gathered that one of the key requirements for setting up a filling station is insurance cover.

According to a source the Insurance cover for the Filling Station where the fire started automatically covers the razed automart and the building affected as well as any other damage caused by the residential, based what is known as “proximate cause” in insurance parlance.

“Yes. We call it proximate cause in insurance. Every damage to anything around that place will be borne by the insurers of that filling station.” an insurance consultant Victor Ganzallo stated.

Societynow.ng gathered that the implication of this is that the insurance cover of the NNPC filling station would pay for all the cars destroyed in the automart and any other damage recorded to the building housing it, as well as damage to the residential buildings affected – and losses incurred by the occupants.
