Why Insiders Insist Lagos Federal Lawmaker Solomon Adeola “Yayi” Is Next Senator In Ogun

The checks by societynow.ng revealed that there are strong indications that Olamilekan Solomon Adeola better known as Yayi is the next Senator to be elected in Ogun West.

Ogun West is one of the senatorial districts in Ogun State.

Societynow.ng confirmed that the 52year old who is the incumbent Senator representing Lagos West and with over 20years experience as a state and federal lawmaker from the same axis is the most popular politician in Ogun West at present.

Insiders confirmed that his “West To West” campaign slogan in Ogun West ahead of the 2023 election has far-reaching acceptance.

“Yayi is the man. He is widely accepted and his West to West campaign slogan is the only one in town at present. Though some people attempted to put up the West for West slogan not too long ago, it wasn’t associated with any politician and fizzled out” societynow.ng learned.

West for West is a subtle attempt at labeling Yayi who was born in Lagos, had his childhood, and is spending his adult life – except for the spell at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic where he bagged a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting – in Lagos as an outsider.

The information at hand, however, revealed that the move fell flat, especially because none of those known as indigenous politicians including Ogun West Senator serving his first term in office, Tolu Odebiyi promoted it.

Societynow.ng gathered that aside Senator Odebiyi, names such as former House of Representatives members Abiodun Ishiaq Akinlade and Abdulkadir Adekunle Akinlade and Gboyega Nasir Isiaka are regarded as indigenous politicians but none have shown as much interest in the Ogun West Senatorial seat as Yayi and none is nowhere near the popularity of the Lagos Senator in either their region or the state as large.

The political strength of Yayi who is one of the golden sons of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is said to be from the aggressive campaign and massive touching of lives and reaching understandings with major political players across political parties that he was forced to engage in his first incursion into Ogun politics around 2013 in the face of serious opposition from then-Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Yayi, a chartered accountant and former staff of Guardian Newspaper –where he became the accountant after 12years of toil – went all out in a failed bid to become Ogun West Senator in 2015. And massively built on it in another attempt to become Ogun state Governor which ended in 2018.

“But Amosun had other ideas and crushed both ambitions but the hard work that Yayi and his team were forced to do laid a very solid political structure that they are reaping from today” societynow.ng learned.

Societynow.ng confirmed that the Yayi political structure which was built on and expanded since the failed Senatorial move of 2013/2014 helped Governor Abiodun to power – against the common foe, Amosun – in 2019 (after he pulled out and backed the incumbent).

“That is why members of the Yayi structure hold key positions in the current administration in Ogun State” societynow.ng learned.

The talks in the political circle of Ogun state are that the arrangement on the ground is that Governor Abiodun will be backed to secure another term in office in 2023 while Solomon Adeola “Yayi” will move from Lagos state to become the Senator representing Ogun West.

Yayi will leverage the position to become Abiodun’s successor as Ogun state governor in 2027 societynow.ng learned.

“Aside that he is a big stakeholder in the current government in Ogun state, Yayi and his team are unrelenting in oiling their political structures across board most especially in Ogun-West that is why there appeared to be no opposition to his ambition in that axis. It will take more than average efforts to undo the good works he has done and there is also the perception of backing by the government to contend with” societynow.ng learned.

Yayi – real name – Olamilekan Solomon Adeola is the senator representing Lagos West in the National Assembly.

He is on his second term in office.

Before he was elected a Senator in 2015, he served as a House of Representatives Member from the same political zone – Alimosho Federal constituency.

Before this development Yayi who is a staunch member of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu political family served as a state legislator for 12years.

He represented the Alimosho state constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly for 3 terms, 2003 till 2011.
