Details: Senator Odebiyi In Quiet Move To Break The “Curse” Of Ogun West

Tolu Odebiyi, one of the Senators in Ogun state is on the move.

Societynow.ng gathered that the 57year representing Ogun West is quietly working on breaking what is now widely labeled a jinx in his area – and Ogun state at large.

“No Senator in Ogun West has served two terms, at least since the advent of the new democracy” societynow.ng learned.

Odebiyi, the son of legendary figures in his base in Iboro – a former Senator (Jonathan Odebiyi) and ex-member of the Independent Electoral Commission (Kemi Odebiyi) – is said to have started underground work to break this jinx.

Information at hand revealed that the graduate of Government College, Ibadan and Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts is believed to have started courting “those that matter” to actualize this objective.

“There are said to be underground political re-alignment by some members of his party, APC (All Progressives Congress) which favors Odebiyi’s ambition to retain his seat as Senator representing Ogun West and talks are going on” societynow.ng learned.

Odebiyi faces strong opposition from a more popular figure operating from Lagos state, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola.

Adeola better known as Yayi is the Senator representing Lagos West.

The Lagos Senator who is a powerful member of the “forces” that brought Governor Dapo Abiodun to power wants to move from being a Lagos Senator to Ogun Senator in 2023.

The checks by societynow.ng revealed that Odebiyi though the incumbent Senator in Ogun West is seen as an underdog in the fight.

“Yayi is immensely popular in Ogun West among the politicians and the locals and not just that, he has the strongest backing of the state government (he is a major stakeholder with representatives here and there) and belongs to the faction controlling political power in the southwest” societynow.ng learned.

The Lagos Senator is one of the golden sons of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the politician with far-reaching influence who is decorated with talks of presidential ambition.

Societynow.ng, however, gathered that despite how high the odds are stacked against him – Odebiyi has refused to be a sitting duck in the bid to retain his senatorial seat.

“After all the story of how Dapo Abiodun became governor in 2019 has taught everybody the lesson never giving up” societynow.ng learned.

Dapo Abiodun, a very late entrant and with no political structure to his name bested more powerful, popular, and connected players and caged the all-powerful Ibikunle Amosun to become Governor.
