Loyalists of Senator Ibikunle Amosun have refute reports of joining the team of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Abiodun and Amosun are neck-deep in a supremacy tussle over who controls the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Abiodun got the better of Amosun with the recognition of his faction by the national leadership of the party as the authentic arm of APC in Ogun state.

This development enabled the governor’s loyalists to secure party tickets to elective positions for the 2023 election.

There have been reports that some of Amosun’s men afraid of losing out totally have been jumping ship to side with the governor.

The most recent of such reports has it that former local government political officers loyal to Amosun have joined ranks with Abiodun.

The Ogun state governor sparked the report with a Live feed of the meeting where he welcomed the “former local government political officers” to his side.

Loyalists of Amosun have, however, issued a disclaimer on the governor’s claims.

“The former Honourable councillors under the above caption wishes to notify the general public and the good people of Ogun State that we are not part of DA Grassroots Ambassadors and we will never be.” the former governor’s loyalists declare in a statement titled “BEING A PRESS RELEASE BY FORMER LOCAL GOVERNMENT POLITICAL FUNCTIONARIES 2016 – 2019SETS IN OGUN STATE…RE: THE PURPOTED DECAMPED TO DA GROUP OR MEMBER OF DA GRASSROOTS AMBASSADOR.”

The statement signed by “Hon. Comr. Oyedele Azeez, For ogun central senatorial district” and “Eng. Hon Oloko . A, For Ogun East Senatorial District” went on to assert that “Also we want the general public to take note that few of our colleagues that are present in the said meeting of Monday 17th of July were cajoled on the pretence that the meeting is based on discussion concerning all the dues and entitlements owed by the state government.

We hereby wishes (sic)to notify our teeming supporters and the people of Ogun State that, there was no time or place where all the 345 Honourable councillors decamped to DA camp. Our loyalty still remain 100% with our boss. Senator Ibukunle Amosun.”

Urging all the former governor’s supporters to stand firm and await further directive, the statement stated “… we urge our members to be steadfast and focus, the next line of action will be taken in due course as we move towards 2023 general election. We the over 250 members remain one and united. “
