Except the out of the ordinary happens, the loyalists of Governor Dapo Abiodun remain candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state for the 2023 election.

Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Governor Abiodun headed different factions of the APC in Ogun State ahead of the recent primary elections.

There was no harmonization of membership or reconciliation till – and after the primary – leaving the Abiodun faction which is officially recognized by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the APC to conduct and win the tickets to all elective posts for the 2023 election.

The Amosun group did not hold a parallel primary. And contrary to talks of possible substitution to appease the faction none of its members made the list of candidates affirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for next year’s election.

Checks by SocietyNow.Ng have revealed how the former Governor is keeping the trust and loyalty of his supporters despite the all-round loss to the Abiodun faction.

Amosun and Abiodun

“The glue is the claims of having a big say in Asiwaju Tinubu’s presidential campaign and talks of profits that will come projected success” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Amosun who was a presidential aspirant stepped down for Asiwaju Tinubu during the APC Presidential primary election and urged his ‘supporters” and “allies” to vote for his choice.

“It is that move that is being used to spin the new web of loyalty by Amosun around his men, that he is the voice of Asiwaju campaign in Ogun state and one of the leaders in the southwest” SocietyNow.Ng.

Amosun and his handlers are leveraging on the support Governor Abiodun gave to Tinubu’s fierce opponent, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to make the claims popular.

Abiodun – trying to redeem himself in the books of the APC presidential candidate – supported Osinbajo to the point of open rebuke by Asiwaju ahead of the presidential primary election.

“It is the Asiwaju (Tinubu) presidential campaign and projected benefits that will come with the success that is the main glue that is keeping Amosun’s support base together and the ending welfare that the former governor constantly provides” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Added information has it that thrown into the mix are talks that President Buhari remains Amosun’s major source of influence plans to bless him with a “parting political gift” that will soar his rating.

President Buhari is on his last year of a constitutionally allowed two-term in office, while the fate of Amosun who didn’t seek re-election as a Senator because of his presidential aspiration hangs in the balance.
