Unrelenting Governor Ibikunle Amosun has failed in another bid to dislodge Dapo Abiodun as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state.

Amosun who is backing the candidate of another party – Allied People’s Movement’s Adekunle Akinlade – attempted to key into the window of opportunity provided by INEC’s timetable for political parties to announce substitution of candidates for the 2019 general election.

Insiders disclosed the Ogun state Governor attempted to knock of Abiodun using the alleged certificate scandal and ‘’business misadventures’’ to achieve his aim.

Sources disclosed that Abiodun’s backers including National Chairman Adams Oshiomole and state leader Olusegun Osoba pushed back insisting its either Abiodun or no other candidate for APC in Ogun state.

INEC is said to release the final list of candidates for the 2019 election later this month – January 2019.

Those who should know, however, claim to societynow.ng that Amosun might have made his last-minute attempt bearing in mind it had a very slim chance of success.

The stiff opposition to Amosun’s agenda to make Akinlade the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Ogun state forced the latter out of the party and made him the flag bearer of the APM.

Amosun is still battling the chain reaction of the development that has greatly reduced his influence in and out of the politics of Ogun state.
