One of Africa’s leading investors and philanthropists, Tony Elumelu has unveiled his role models.

He made the revelation during a fireside discussion at this year’s Future Investment Initiative: The New Compass.

Unmasking his role models at the event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, the chairman of the pan- African financial services group providing corporate, commercial, SME, and consumer banking services to more than 35 million customers globally – United Bank for Africa (UBA) disclosed ” I like Steve Jobs for all the things he did, a man founded a company and years after his death became the first company to cross the 1trillion dollars in market capitalization, that is great. A man of great foresight, I like him.

“The second one interestingly Michale Jackson, why do I like Michael Jackson? He epitomized hard work. excellence, you know people often say or you go watch Michale Jackson and say what a star, wow he is so talented, he is blessed.

He worked hard for it, if you watch “This Is It”, if you watch some of his videos, you will see the practice, hard work, the excellence that goes into it. then you begin to realize that this is not a fluke, it is not just luck, he worked hard for it and this is what I preach to my children, what I tell my children, my colleagues about life, you need to work hard, put in the time, the hours and you’ll see the outcome. so it’s these two men, a man of foresight Steve Jobs, and Michael Jackson a man of excellence“.

Elumelu who was a guest at the high-level gathering that was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the invitation of Yasir bin Othman Al-Rumayyan, Governor of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and Richard Attias, Chairman of the FII Institute spoke on ‘How Africapitalism drives Inclusive Growth’.

The Chairman of Transcorp, whose subsidiaries include Transcorp Power, one of the leading producers of electricity in Nigeria and Transcorp Hotels Plc, Nigeria’s foremost hospitality brand, provided compelling reasons Africapitalism remains the best option for developing Africa, stimulating all-inclusive prosperity on the continent.

Africapitalism is an economic philosophy by Tony Elumelu that positions the private sector, and most importantly entrepreneurs, as the catalyst for the social and economic development of the African continent.
