Familiar foes – that agreed on cosmetic truce for mutual convenience- are back at war again.

Sources insist that re elected Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola and his political godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have resume their wrangling over who is in charge of government in the state.

And the most obvious point in their differences is listed as the commissionership ambition of former minister of state for interior, Demola Seriki.

Former governor and one of the most influential politician in the southwest, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is said to have nominated the ex-minister and decamped politician, from rival political party PDP to re-elected governor Fashola as a commissioner in his new cabinet.

The latter is said to have oppose the choice based on reasons that it would rub off wrongly on the image of his government and hinder his plans for a better Lagos.

Informants claimed that Fashola is trying to avoid a reenactment of political patronage that saw former senator, Tokunbo Afikuyomi fostered on him as commissioner and the attendant scandals of Floating hotel Sunburn Yacht and needless fights with Otunba Runsewe led Nigeria National Tourism Development Commission amongst others.

In the case of Demola Seriki, Fashola and his backers base their opposition on the premise that all through his reign as a minister the public find it easy to remember Seriki for his dalliances, impregnating and controversial marriage to Shola Shaba, the daughter of Bisi Dan Musa and related episodes.

‘They believe his addition to the cabinet based on this and other reason would be a big minus than a plus’ a source explained.

The governor is said to have advised the nomination of a more credible candidate of master politician, Tinubu’s choice.

But for reasons yet to be deciphered Asiwaju Tinubu is said to be sticking to his guns on the inclusion of Demola Seriki and the beneficiary is said to be very keen on accepting the post. What is not clear is whether Fashola and his backers will tow their usual path of backing down to the wishes of the former governor and influential politician or stick to their belief and fight what they believe ‘is good for all’

Demola Seriki did not respond to phone calls or text messages on the matter.
