Hundreds of workers at mega project Eko Atlantic City have downed tools.

And early morning Wednesday July 15 2015, they took to the streets.

As early as 7a.m the informally attired workers of all shades and hues – in large numbers – were positioned at the frontage of the Bar Beach site of the project that would help Lagos Transform itself into mega city status on the world map.

With some smoking weeds openly and others spotting pla cards of different inscriptions the protesters forced vehicular movements on the high way to a lane.

Societynowng.com findings revealed the workers were protesting a N900 daily pay and general poor working conditions.

And they portrayed this as well with inscriptions on their pla cards.

Some read of the written words were.

‘No To N900 Daily’… ‘Casual For 2yrs Not Good’….’Casual Is Dangerous’…’No More South Energy’

‘Yinka Must Go…’Save Us’

At About 8.30 am, the protesters splintered into groups and meandered in varying numbers across Victoria Island trying to create better awareness for their plight.

At about 9.a., along Adetokinbo Ademola road, from Oceanview restaurant towards the Eko Hotel and Suites – protesters on the stretched forced motorist use one lane while they occupied the other.

It is not clear whether their grievances have been addressed at press time.

Societynowng learnt the Eko Atlantic City project was initiated in 2003 in the course of Lagos state government search for means to protect the Bar Beach in Victoria Island from severe coastal erosion.
