Talks Schools In Ogun State Are Shutting Down Over Fears Of Criminals Masquerading As Herdsmen Circulate

There is a circulating gist in Ogun State.

Schools, including government-owned, in Aiyetoro a part of Yewaland have started shutting down over fears of possible attacks from criminal masquerading as herdsmen.

Ayetoro and its environs have been one of the hotbeds of clashes between herdsmen and farmers in Ogun state.

Criminals operating under the guise of such clashes have created a criminal enterprise that revolves around kidnap for ransom and seizing the control of communities and forcing residents to pay security fees in other parts of the country.

Schools are increasingly becoming the targets in places where these criminal minds have been allowed footholds.

Societynow.ng gathered that in the face of increased skirmishes between herders and farmers in Ayetoro residents have started preparing for the worst scenario.

“Teachers are redistributed to other schools, children stay at home” societynow.ng learned.

This development comes in the face of efforts by Governor Dapo Abiodun to boost the security with ongoing recruitment into the state arm of the South-West security network known as Amotekun.
