‘Still Brothers’ — Sanwo-Olu Camp Dismisses Rift Rumours With Abiodun
stressed that the two governors maintain regular contact and consultations
The Lagos State Government has dismissed as false and misleading reports suggesting a rift between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, insisting that both leaders enjoy a cordial and brotherly relationship.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s media aide, Gboyega Akosile, the reports circulating were described as deliberate attempts to sow discord between the two South-West governors.
According to Akosile, claims of any misunderstanding between Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun are not only untrue but completely at variance with the reality of the relationship between both leaders.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu enjoy a very cordial brotherly relationship,” the statement said.
The aide stressed that the two governors maintain regular contact and consultations on issues of mutual interest, particularly those affecting Lagos and Ogun states, which share common boundaries and deep socio-cultural ties.
“They meet regularly and speak frequently on matters bordering on the development of their respective states. This is partly because both states are closely linked geographically and culturally,” Akosile noted.
The statement further warned individuals and groups behind the alleged fake news to desist from spreading falsehoods capable of undermining cooperation and unity between leaders committed to public service.
Akosile emphasised that both Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun are driven by a shared vision of improving the welfare of their people and advancing development across their states.
He added that no amount of misinformation would derail the strong working relationship and mutual respect existing between the two governors, describing attempts to create friction as “mischievous and futile.”
