Parents and guardians of secondary school students are now liable for the conduct of their children and wards in Ogun State.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that this development is the result of a new rule introduced by the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Parents and guardians have been given an undertaking form that places the burden of the actions of their children and wards while in school on them.

It is only those who have submitted a signed copy of the undertaking form that are allowed to attend class SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Added information has it that the policy affects only students in public schools.

Further digs revealed that the government took the decision as part of efforts to battle increasing inter and intra-school violent clashes in the state.

The highlights of one of such violent clashes saw the Divisional Police Officer ( D.P.O) Adatan Area Command, SP Alimeke Ignatius attacked in the course of trying to contain the situation.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the undertaking form introduced by the Abiodun administration specifically stated that the parent(s) or guardian serving as guarantor is liable for the action of the student concerned.

“The students are given two copies to be filled and signed, one for the signatory and the other for the school. The two copies are the same and bear spaces for a passport size photograph ad the parent or guardian serving as guarantor and the student concerned” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
