The top-of-the-table clash between Chelsea and Liverpool is the undoubted pick of the seventh-round matches in the 2018/19 Premier League, which will be played from Saturday 29 September to Monday 1 October.

Liverpool, featuring Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in attack, will go to Stamford Bridge in the late game on Saturday and look to defend their 100 percent record against a Chelsea side which dropped points for the first time this season when they were held 0-0 at West Ham United last weekend.

The classic Blues v Reds clash pits two attack-minded managers against each other and the tactical battle between Maurizio Sarri and Jurgen Klopp is one which will fascinate football purists this weekend.

The match will feature some of the world’s most exciting attacking talent, with Chelsea looking to the mercurial Eden Hazard and the passing mastery of midfielder Jorginho for inspiration, while the ‘Pool front three of Salah, Roberto Firmino and Mane remains arguably the best in European club football, yet it must be noted that the last three league meetings of the Blues and Reds have produced just five goals.

The weekend’s action gets underway with an early kick-off at the London Stadium where Arthur Masuaku’s West Ham will look to continue their recent revival with a clash at home to stuttering Manchester United, followed by six afternoon matches, the pick of which sees Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looking to continue his scoring form when Arsenal host Watford.

Elsewhere, Wilfred Ndidi and Mohamed Diame will go toe-to-toe in midfield when Newcastle United host Leicester City; Riyad Mahrez will hope his two-goal salvo last weekend earns him a place in Manchester City’s starting XI for the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion; Jean Michael Seri’s Fulham face a tough clash away to Everton; Steve Mounie’s Huddersfield Town play host to Tottenham Hotspur; and Mario Lemina’s Southampton will look to upset Wolverhampton at Molineux.

The round wraps up with a game apiece on Sunday afternoon and Monday night. First up, Sol Bamba’s Cardiff City face a must-win clash at home to a Burnley side which appears to have shaken off their early-season funk, while Ivorian attacker Wilfried Zaha will again be the key man for Crystal Palace when they head to the south coast for a clash with Bournemouth.
