Oluwo Of Iwo Abdulrasheed Akanbi Digs Himself Into Further Trouble Over Beating Of Agbowu

Emerging details have it that embattled traditional ruler, Oluwo of Iwo Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has dug himself into further trouble.

Insiders disclosed that Oba Akanbi is alienating those who should bail him out of the current predicament threatening his crown – with possible court sentencing thrown into the bargain.

The Iwo king is facing legal action for beating up and inflicting injury on another traditional ruler during a peace parley held at the office of Assitant Inspector General of Police, Bashir Makama on Friday, February 14, 2020, in Osogbo, Osun State.

The victim of Oluwo’s brutality was the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa Oba Sikiru Aderopo.

The brutalized Agbowu was taken to a state hospital for treatment after Oluwo was pulled off him by Senior Police Officer Makama who was 

aided by top-ranking government officials at the meeting.

Societynow.ng gathered that many powerful interests against the Oluwo have aligned with the Agbowu in pushing for a heavy sanction the assailant in the public beating.

The information available has it that pressure for the suspension of Oluwo amid threats of unseating him from the throne is piling up.

‘’But Oluwo is not helping matters. He is digging himself into further trouble by holding on to the supremacy tussle with Ooni and Alaafin in the bid to justify the beating of Agbowu and these are the people that can help him put out the flame of controversy threatening his crown’’ societynow.ng learned.

Oluwo who has had public spats with the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi over controversial claims of the need to be accorded the same regard as the two frontline Yoruba Kings is holding on to the eyebrow-raising assertion in the consuming trouble with Agbowu.

Oluwo, in a public statement, ranked himself on the same level as the Ooni and Alaafin in justifying the brutalization of Agbowu in the office of a senior police officer with the assertion that ‘’ Can any monarch try such with Ooni, Alaafin?”

Oluwo claimed the Agbowu insulted him and tried to poke his eyes with the staff of office, a move which was ‘’ heavily rejected with force which Agbowu could not withstand.’’

Societynow.ng gathered the reference to the Ooni and Alaafin in Oluwo’s public statement did not seat down well with a lot of people in the royal circle and the custodians of culture in different spheres.

The Oluwo is seen as still overreaching and trying to drag the revered stools of Ife and Oyo into his mess.

Sources disclosed the Alaafin and the Ooni have been advised to stay off the controversy consuming the Oluwo in the bid to finally put him in his place.

Insiders disclosed that the situation is getting more stormy for Oluwo has his adversaries continue to align at different pressure points pushing for his suspension and take away of powers that diminish his person and lessen the influence of his throne.

The peace parley that turned into a fiasco was initiated as a result of a petition by Oluwo against other kings in his area of influence alleging threats to his life and clandestine sale of land under his authority without approval.

Societynow.ng gathered that the accused kings including  Quadri Adeoye, Oluwo of Iwo-Oke; Oyebamiji Oyeleso of Oluponna, Adio Oyediran of Igegeland, Solomon Ojo of Ikonifin and Moshood Oparonke of Eesu denied the allegations, insisting they sold on land within their domain.

Agbowu was making his contribution to the case at the meeting when Oluwo took offense at his choice of words and descended on him at the meeting societynow.ng learned.
