Oba of Benin, Ewuare 11 at the peace meeting to put a stop to the violence rocking gubernatorial campaigns in Edo State made a revelation that sparked laughter.

According to the highly respected monarch ‘’Some people say politics is a dirty act but why should politics be dirty?

‘’ this my chief Obagielu… I have asked him why he is still a chief in my inner chamber when he is such a political animal, he is the one that even made a statement that politics is dirty, if it is a dirty game I know I asked him why are you wearing this white garment…maybe we should take it off you. Because chiefs wear white garments in order to maintain purity, to reflect purity and not dirty. And I think his funny answer was when he goes to the field, he takes it off and keeps it somewhere.’’

The revered monarch’s revelation sparked a burst of laughter at the somber gathering.

Oba Ewuare 11 invited major political actors in Edo State to a peace meeting at his palace yesterday, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 to resolve the conflicts which birthed the violence rocking the state.

Amongst major political actors that attended the meeting were Comrade Adams Oshimhole- the former national chairman of All Progressives Congress( APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu- the gubernatorial candidate of the APC who crossed over from rival People’s Democratic Party(PDP), Godwin Obaseki – the reelection seeking Governor of Edo state who defected to the PDP from the APC to achieve his ambition, Philip Shuaibu – Obaseki’s Deputy who defected with the Governor to PDP and retained his spot and all other stakeholders in the political fight and John Oyegun – Oshiomhole’s predecessor as APC National Chairman.
