describing the achievement as another milestone
Billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Tony Elumelu, has celebrated his wife, Dr Awele Elumelu, after she completed the New York City Marathon, describing the achievement as another milestone in her six-year journey of endurance and determination.
Elumelu, in a congratulatory message, expressed pride in his wife’s accomplishment, declaring: “Another city has fallen!”

He recalled that Awele began her marathon journey six years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic when she participated in the New York Marathon virtually.
According to the philanthropist, what started as a virtual challenge gradually developed into a remarkable journey across the six World Marathon Majors, culminating in her second New York Marathon, this time running the iconic race in person on Sunday.
“Her journey shows how critical that first step is, whatever the circumstances. She started during the pandemic, adapted and remained committed,” he said.
The master entrepreneur described his wife’s consistency and determination as the driving forces behind her achievement, adding that he was proud of her courage to continually challenge herself.

“Congratulations, Mrs. TOE. This is a wonderful achievement, and I look forward to celebrating many more with you,” he added.
Mrs Elumelu, a medical doctor, entrepreneur and healthcare investor, has previously participated in major international races, including the London, Chicago and Berlin marathons, alongside Manchester.
Her husband, Tony, is the chairman of Heirs Holdings, and Transcorp, – until recently also that of financial powerhouse, United Bank for Africa ( UBA,) – and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which supports entrepreneurship across Africa.
They widely regarded as Nigera’s leading power- couple.
