The legend of reputation management Lolu Akinwunmi has itemized seven (7) things re-elected Governor of Edo state Godwin Obaseki should do to be powerful and not become another ‘’Oshiomhole’’.

The former chairman of the Advertising Practitoners Council of Nigeria (APC) listed the rules of engagements for Obaseki in a post titled ‘’ADVICE FOR OBASEKI’’.
The post by the shots caller at multinational agency Prima Garnet reads…

Now that victory is in his hands, Obaseki MUST do certain things:

1• Avoid too much jubilation. He should enjoy the victory but in moderation. He must be wary of praise singers and strange new friends.

2• He must seek reconciliation. He must avoid the temptation to get even with some people. He has in his hands the biggest victory and justification. Attacking enemies will reduce the value and is spiritually negative. God helped him to overcome his enemies but if he is strategic he can convert them to advocates. No permanent friends or enemies in politics.

3• He must avoid Oshio and Tinubu bashing and even instruct his people to avoid it. There is no gain in it. He must reunite everyone: he is the No 1 and the father/servant of all. He must manage the two roles well. He cannot be distracted. He can’t run and look back at the same time.

4• He must be prepared to work very, very hard. Edo people have expectations. He can’t fail them. Today they are crying hosanna. They can cry “ o to ge” tomorrow.

5• He must have an eye on his legacy. What does he want to be remembered for after his service? What are some of his predecessors remembered for?

6• He must keep trusting God who has helped him over formidable enemies. He must not let down his guard. Even after Jesus was tempted by satan and He gave the right answers, the Bible says, satan left Him for “a season”. Trials never end. He must continue to trust God.

7• He will become a godfather. But he must not seek to become a troublesome godfather. The problem is not being a godfather. The problem is when you don’t want people under you to grow and breathe. He must not become like those that Edo people revolted against. He must remember that Oshio used to be very popular and that nothing is permanent. He must serve with wisdom and compassion.
