N1.5B Controversy!…Inside Story As Lagos Television Takes Delivery Of Brand New OBVan, Gov Ambode’s True Involvement Revealed

The Lagos State Television has taken delivery of a brand new Outside Broadcasting Van (OBVan) from the United Kingdom.

And the station provided proof by uploading pictures of the services booster on its social media pages on Wednesday, September 12 2018.

Added revelation has it that contrary to claims N1.5billion was paid for the OBVan, it was actually purchased for just N200m.

This development clears raging controversy over allegation Governor Akinwunmi Ambode conspired with Commissioner Steve Ayorinde to swindle the state N1.5billion for a non – existent OBVan.

“The actually saved the state a whole lot of money” a source claim.

Societynow.ng learned the initial recommendation was for the use of N150m for the repair of an OBVan that was abandoned for many years, but Ambode through a market research by Ayorinde opted for the purchase of a brand new one for N200m.

Societynow.ng learned contrary to claims in the report that raised the dust of allegations of fraud, there was no Lebanese middleman in the transaction nor where there are  contractual terms that provided room for fraud.

“It was a straightforward business deal handled by an indigenous company” an insider insists.

Sources disclose 80% of N200m was paid and the transaction carried out.

Societynow.ng gathered the broadcasting van was supplied by technical partners who agreed to warranty and provide maintenance.

“It ought to have been delivered before now but for the fluctuating foreign exchange that caused a bit of glitch,” a source asserted.

The delivery of the Outside Broadcasting Van is said to come after the supply of top-range cameras, microphones and other gadgets that the station was lacking.

“The Governor upgraded our studios and provided equipment that can transmit events live from six different locations simultaneously. No other tv station has such in Nigeria you can quote me. We have even used that equipment to transmit some events twice from London and from Ghana. The OBVan that is coming is just to complement them because the six back-pack live transmitters work with data and the signals can’t be as strong as a proper OBVan” a source revealed to societynow.ng.

What brought about the allegation of fraud? And how did the story of a fight between Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Ambode over N1.5billion OBVan emanate?

Insiders claim the story of fraud is an attempt to embarrass Ambode by cashing in on the stories surrounding his second term bid.

Blind to the fact that the OBVan was already in the country, those behind the plot concocted “cocktail of lies” and mindlessly dished it out societynow.ng learned.

And it is has come back to haunt them.

Insiders disclosed with the true situation of things coming to the light investigation is on to apprehend the peddlers of falsehood.

Sources revealed that initial investigation points at a former General Manager at LTV as the arrowhead of the plot.

The individual and others involved at the station are said to be aggrieved that the reforms brought by Ambode have blocked illegal earnings.

“The former GM was actually the one that recommended the repair of a packed up OBVan for N150m when a new one goes for N200m” societynow.ng learned.

“The makeup story of the OBVan is about embittered people cast out of LTV by ongoing reforms at LTV. They just threw in Tinubu’s name to give their petty falsehood political colouration” a source stated.
