An insider within the administration of embattled Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has confirmed the pains of many.

The internal road network in the state has collapsed.

Sola Salako Ajulo, the consumer rights expert appointed to the board of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency by Governor Ambode wrote on her Facebook page ‘’Practically all Lagos internal road networks have collapsed. Public Works seem comatose! This is really terrible…When will Local Government get the autonomy to do their statutory duties? We are back to pre- BRF days. Not good at all!”

The development validates the growing angst of residents of Lagos against re-election seeking Governor Ambode.

Residents now spend hellish hours in traffic as result of the collapsed internal road network that is putting a heavy strain on the major roads, which are speedily going the way of the former.

The situation is made worse by heavy rainfalls which have made the collapsed road network waterlogged.

Complemented with the heaps of refuse that refused to go away as a result of the raging row over who has the right to refuse collection, the environmental situation in Lagos has become appalling for residents.

And the public voice of anger is growing against re-election seeking Governor Ambode.

This development comes as the governor battles rejection by some leaders of his All Progressives Congress in the bid to get the second term.

Interestingly, the construction of the road network was at a time the reference point of performance by the Ambode administration, but the situation is changed as heavy rains make nonsense of the quality of work done.

Societynow.ng learned quietly building up under the hum of public anger over the collapsed road network and untold hardship it has brought on residents is agitation for details of the contracts for the gone bad roads.

The Ambode administration is accused of hijacking the function of Local Governments and using the councils’ funds to execute ‘’contracts” which has now turned ‘’badly done”.

‘’I guess that is why Salako- Ajulo asked about local government autonomy in her social media post” a source offered.

‘’This is a very trying time for re-election seeking Ambode” a source summed up the governor’s situation.

Societynow.ng checks revealed comments on the post by Salako Ajulo – who is praised for her honest assessment – mirrors growing public opinion against Ambode.
