Lagos Shuts Down Worship Places For Noise Pollution

The Lagos state government has shut down two places of worship for environmental offences.

The affected places of worship are Ansar-Ud-deen and Restoration Centre Global Church.

They are both located in Gbagada, Lagos state.

The General Manager of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, and his enforcement sealed the religious centers according to the revelation made by the Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab.

LASEPA is under the purvey of Wahab’s ministry.

The commissioner says the places of worship were shut down “due to concerns regarding noise pollution and other environmental infractions.”

Since he resumed office on Monday, September 18, 2023, Wahab has been at the forefront of an aggressive campaign to achieve what he explains as a ” clean, healthy and sustainable environment, that promotes tourism, boosts economic growth and enhances the overall well-being of the citizens” as part of the Lagos State policy thrust of “Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Economic Growth through Infrastructure Renewal and Development.”
