Emerging details have it that Ladi Adebutu has kicked off an underground campaign to become the governor of Ogun state in 2023.

Ladi, the son of billionaire Kesignton Adebutu was the official candidate adopted by the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party for the gubernatorial election held earlier in the year.

Ladi, however, lost out to Kashamu Buruji as the PDP gubernatorial candidate recognized in Ogun state by the Independent Electoral Commission via court order.

Hours to the election Ladi threw his weight behind Adekunle Akinlade, the gubernatorial candidate of the Allied People’s Movement fiercely backed by the immediate past governor while Kashumu gave his support to eventual winner Dapo Abiodun of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Societyniw.ng gathered that with the Dapo Abiodun’s government barely off the ground – less than two weeks in power -, Adebutu has initiated an underground campaign to win the next general election.

‘’He wants to start early and work hard to become the perfect alternative in the next four years’’ a source stated.

Insiders disclosed that a close-knit group is being put together by Adebutu and his die-hard backers.

‘’Ladi and his people believe that starting early and transforming into a formidable opposition of the new government would make winning 2023 easy for him’’ a source stated.

Societynow.ng gathered that the first agenda of the group is to resolve internal issues – within the enlarged support base – thrown up by the recent gubernatorial campaign and perception problems that saw Ladi lose a chunk of his supporters in the last minutes to the election that produced Abiodun as the winner.

The added investigation conducted by societynow.ng revealed that the move is already on but insiders insist as things stand, new Governor Dapo Abiodun holds the ace.

‘’Abiodun is still popular based on the great expectations that he will be a better man than immediate past Governor Amosun and most of the supporters that left Ladi Adebutu are now with Abiodun…It is how Abiodun handles governance and politics in the next four years that will determine whether Adebutu stands a chance but as things stand, Abiodun has all it takes to retain his seat in 2023’’ a source pointed out.
