Ladi Adebutu, the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ogun State .has led protesters to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The gubernatorial candidate also known as Lado is protesting the slim-margin win of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the INEC office in Ogun state capital, Abeokuta.

Abiodun was declared the winner of the election by a margin of 13,915 votes. The Governor polled 276, 298 votes against Adebutu’s 262, 383 votes.

Adebutu is disputing the result on the premise that there were orchestrated irregularities that forced the cancellation of results in areas where he is popular in Ishagamu.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate is insisting that by the doctrine of margin of lead before cancellation, he won the election. Adebutu asserted he was leading by 33,000 votes before the cancellation of results in the affected areas.

The 33,000 votes margin of lead is more than the 13,915 votes that gave Abiodun a second term victory Adebutu is insisting.

He has written a petition to the effect.

Stephen Akin Ojewole, the director of administrative services at the INEC office later attended to Adebutu and addressed the protesters that their petition is being handled by the top brass of INEC.
