Behind the staccato celebrations of his re-election, Governor Dapo Abiodun and his men have launched a probe to determine how he was nearly defeated.

The Governor’s camp enjoyed a rash of defection from bigwigs of other political parties, particularly from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which almost snatched victory.

Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election with 13,915 votes more than the main challenger Ladi Adebutu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Abiodun scored 276, 298 votes while Adebutu secured 262, 383 votes in the Saturday, March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election.

At a point, there were strong fears in the governor’s camp that he would lose the election before the last leg of the results gave him victory.

Adebutu is already challenging the result of the election insisting there were “irregularities” in his stronghold.

Abiodun and his men are trying to understand why an election that looked like a landslide win was almost lost.

SocietyNow.Ng confirmed accusing fingers are being pointed at persons tagged “saboteurs”.

Accusations of inducements and nondeployment of “logistics” are rife within the Governor’s camp,  particularly against “appointed persons” who couldn’t win the areas.

“The result of the election as created a certain level of distrust within the governor’s camp, though not concrete has been done but the handwriting is on the wall that certain changes will be made and some persons will lose vantage positions” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The added information available revealed although that Gbenga Daniel, the Senator-Elect on the platform of the APC who refused openly edorse Abiodun for the election is being widely credited with the near loss – the suspicion and accusations runs deeper in Governor Abiodun’s camp.
