Long-serving member of the Federal House of Representatives, Wole Oke, has fired back at his critics within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), insisting he has never disrespected Governor Ademola Adeleke despite ongoing tensions between them.

Oke, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the strong rebuttal in a fiery social media post addressing recent verbal attacks by party loyalists in his native Ijesa North.

The former PDP stalwart and now frontline APC campaigner in the buildup to the November 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election, accused PDP leaders in the region of betraying their people and failing to hold the state government accountable.

“I have never been rude to Sen. Ademola Adeleke in person. I have no reason to do so. I write and speak to government that we both put in place over injustice meted on my people. Nothing personal,” Oke wrote.

Responding directly to grassroots criticisms led by Iyalode Eniola Omotosho, a vocal PDP chieftain, Oke challenged her and other local PDP figures to show what Governor Adeleke’s administration has done for Obokun and Oriade Local Government Areas, which make up Ijesa North.

“Point to what Gov Adeleke has done for our people in Obokun and Oriade. I challenge Governor Adeleke’s government to come and commission one single project in Ijesa North,” he stated bluntly.

According to Oke, the 1.2km road in Ipetu Ijesa and the shared 1.5km road in Obokun often cited as Adeleke administration’s achievements were in fact executed by the local governments, not the state.

He accused some local PDP leaders of abandoning their responsibilities to the people, frequenting “pepper soup joints, beer parlours and short-time brothels” instead of advocating for development.

While praising other politicians like IBK and Emiloju Nurudeen for working hard for their constituencies, Oke lamented the lack of meaningful engagement by Ijesa North’s representatives in the PDP-led state government.

“Ijesha North people are not slaves nor cowards. Stop crying more than the bereaved. Speak for the people and not your belly,” he said in a scathing rebuke.

Oke’s post signals a deepening rift between him and his former party, even as he positions himself and the APC as credible alternatives to Governor Adeleke’s second-term bid.

The Osun gubernatorial race is already heating up, and Wole Oke’s growing prominence in the APC is expected to reshape the political dynamics in Ijesa land and beyond.
