“I Am Excited” – Osinbajo Announces New Appointment

Former Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has taken up another appointment.

He made the announcement today, July 11, 2023 , declaring he is very excited.

According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria who served as the Vice President of Nigeria from May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2023 on a two-term joint ticket with immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, his new appointment is as ” Global Advisor to Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet”

In making the 66year old posted on his social media page “I am excited to announce that I have been appointed Global Advisor to Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet @globalenergyalliance . Together, we will work to unlock capital flows into the clean energy sector and boost Africa’s share in the global carbon market through #ACMI

GEAPP in such a short period have demonstrated a commitment to support developing countries’ shift to a clean energy using models that ensure universal energy access as well as drive economic growth, generate jobs & sustainable livelihoods and meet urgent climate goals.

The latest appointment comes barely days after Osinbajo concluded his first commission after tenure as Vice President.

He was Chairman of the Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) for the Sierra Leone general elections that was held on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Osinbajo spent weeks in Sierra Leone to get the job done.

According to information sourced on its website “the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is an alliance of philanthropy, local entrepreneurs, governments, and technology, policy, and financing partners”

The “common mision” it further stated “is to support developing countries’ shift to a clean energy, pro-growth model that ensures universal energy access, unlocking a new era of inclusive economic growth, while enabling the global community to meet critical climate goals during the next decade”
