Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, the popular politician friends and supporters brand “GNI” is still smarting from the inability to install his choice of the Council Chairman in his political base.

Isiaka a serial gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State is from Imeko Afon.

He was the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 election that brought Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to power.

Isiaka defected to the ruling APC based on certain “political assurances” and became an appointee of the Abiodun administration.

Societynow.ng, however, gathered that some of the “assurances” that paved the way for his defection to the APC are not panning out as anticipated.

“After a couple of the pledges that brought him to APC failed to pan out, GNI sought and got the Governor’s assurance to put his choice forward as the Chairman of Imeko Afon Local Government. He followed up on the nomination all through the process only to get ditched less than 24hrs to the announcement of the party candidate and eventual winner. ” Societynow.ng learned.

Gov Abiodun

Fadipe Yaya Akande, a strong loyalist of Lagos Senator Solomon Adeola emerged as the Chairman of Imeko Afon Local Government in July 2021.

The Senator pulled the strings that halted GNI’s plan.

“GNI as found himself on the suffocating shadow of the hold of Lagos Senator Yayi on Ogun APC and the Abiodun administration in and outside his base” Societynow.ng learned.

Solomon Olamilekan Adeola the Lagos Senator many know as Yayi played a major role in Abiodun becoming the Governor of Ogun State.

The Senator with over twenty years experience as elected state and federal legislator in Lagos State has nurtured a formidable political structure in Ogun State using Yewa – the same axis GNI is from – as the launch pad.

Yayi wants to become the Senator representing Ogun West in 2023 and later Governor in 2027.

The Lagos Senator’s incursion into Ogun political space started as far back as the first of the two terms of immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun. (2001 to 2019).

Amosun, however, vehemently opposed but not before Yayi has secured the foothold that enabled him to build his structure to the point of becoming the platform that gave Abiodun’s gubernatorial ambition a much-needed lifeline before the 2019 gubernatorial election till present.

Yayi’s control the APC in Yewaland including Imeko Afon which is GNI’s seat of power. And has influential appointees within Governor Abiodun’s administration.
