Great Excitement As FETHA, Ebonyi Gets MTN’s Emergency Ward Intervention Project

The students, staff of Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA 1) and residents of Ebonyi State could not hold back their excitement as they received medical equipment and supplies from MTN Foundation on Friday. The atmosphere was raving with gratitude to MTN Nigeria, as this Emergency Ward Intervention project will help combat delay during health emergencies as well as reducing the death rate in the state.

Following the recent donation of medical equipment to Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital and General Hospital Onitsha in Anambra state, MTN Foundation has extended the act of caring to the people of Ebonyi state. MTN Foundation donated hospital equipment to benefit patients who frequent Ebonyi’s busiest public hospitals; Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA 1).

During the handover ceremony, some medical equipment received by FETHA includes; emergency crash cart/trolley, Vital sign monitor, Nebulizer, Suture sets, laryngoscopes, stethoscopes, digital patient mentors amongst others.

Speaking at the event, the Director, MTN Foundation Mr. Dennis Okoro commended all state emergency response agencies nationwide saying “it is not a job for them alone, which is why, the MTN Foundation, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and our Emergency agencies has set up the MTNF Emergency Ward Intervention initiative.”

The Honorable Commissioner, Ebonyi State Ministry of Health; Dr. Umezurike Daniel (FWACS) while receiving the medical supplies expressed his gratitude to MTN Nigeria stating that this will enable them prepare and attend to any form of medical emergencies that may arise.
Some notable dignitaries present at the event includes; Director Public Health, Ebonyi State Ministry of Health, Dr. Mike Urom; Director Administration, Ebonyi State Ministry of Health, Lady Anoke Eze Nnenna Ogo; Chief Medical Director, FETHA, Dr. Onwe Emeka Ogah(FWACP); Senior Manager, MTN Foundation, Mr. Abasi-Ekong Udobang; Manager Health Portfolio, MTN Foundation Mr. Victor Orie-Ononogbu; and other government stakeholder/Dignitaries.

The event was part of various corporate social responsibility activities carried out by MTN Foundation whose main objective is to improve the quality of life in communities across the country by supporting and implementing sustainable projects in education, health, art & culture, economic empowerment and other National priorities.

The MTN Emergency Ward Intervention train will be moving to critical medical facilities in Imo State.
