Whether he is guilty or not in the unfolding $620,000 bribery scandal -Mr Femi Otedola, the promoter of Forte Oil is in for increased turbulence according to information filtering in to societynowng.com
Colleagues of Farouk Lawan, the powerful lawmaker the Zenon Oil boss ensnared in the celebrated bribery expose have started rallying round to save one of their own.
And the leadership of the Federal House of Representatives is said to have given it’s tacit support to this development.
The Idea is to save a situation that might collectively embarrass the house and help in establishing perception that, ‘the House is corrupt’
And to achieve the aim, the supporters are utilizing just one strategy ‘to discredit Otedola in all ways possible’
The focal points of this move are that the Zenon Oil boss is a state agent working for the presidency for business gains and a man that is given to betraying business confidence in the public domain.
Otedola’s recent detailing of the manner he entangled Farouk(click here to read detail story) on the pages of newspapers- before he officially reported to the police- against the background of the manner he took to the press in the fight against his former friend and confidante, Alhaji Aliko Dangote are some of the materials being used against him.
Another is an alleged intelligence report that Otedola is an agent of the state security service, in what he claimed a covert operation, at the instance of the presidency.
‘He acted as the president’s mole to infiltrate the oil subsidy probe panel with intent to protect the President’s men’ they now claim.

For Otedola, the gain of his exploit is said to be the opportunity of in grating himself further with Presidency- the source of his path to great influence and wealth during the era of ex President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The task force in charge of the case is threatening to declare legislator Lawan wanted if he doesn’t report for question on the matter.
Otedola voluntarily visited the Police Headquarters to make a formally statement on the matter Tuesday June 12 2012.
