Doctors, Nurses In Ogun State Contribute To Refund Money Borrowed To Free Abducted Colleagues From Kidnappers Den

Details available to societynow.ng have it that Doctors and Nurses in the employment of the Ogun State government are contributing money to offset a debt.

The debt is explained as incurred to secure the release of their colleagues from the den of Kidnappers.

“They are deducting money from the salary of nurses and doctors to pay back the money that was borrowed to pay the ransom for the release of their colleagues” societynow.ng learned.

On Wednesday April 7, 2021 the Head of the General Hospital, Imeko Doctor Olaunni Odetola and a Nurse Mrs Bamgbose were abducted along Imeko- Abeokuta road.

They were reportedly on official assignment.

Efforts by local hunters to rescue the victims resulted in heavy loss for the rescuers.

Emerging details have it that Doctor Odetola and Nurse Bamgbose regained their freedom on Monday, April 12, 2021 after payment of ransom by their colleagues.

The administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun is said to have a policy of non – negotiation with kidnappers and the likes.

“That is why the associations raised the fund for ransom and doctors and nurses in Ogun state are contributing to pay back the money” societynow.ng learned.

The information available revealed that five thousand Naira (N5,000) and slightly above – depending on position – are being contributed by the doctors and nurses.

It is, however, not clear how much ransom was paid with different figures being bandied about town.
