Distrust over talks of gubernatorial ambitions have started pitching commissioners and top level functionaries in the government of Governor Ibikunle Amosun against one another.

Informants claimed that focus is more on perfecting alliances and forces ahead the upcoming 2015 general elections- and beyond, than any other thing within the cabinet.

Outside of Deputy Governor, Segun Adesegun seeking immediate contest to wrestle power from his boss, others with gubernatorial ambitions are said to have ‘seemingly’ conceded that the incumbent gets a second term, with plots afloat to take over from him.

According to an insider ‘ the game plan is to be seen as showing great loyalty to the governor, supporting his government and re election bid so that it will be easier to get his nod when the time comes’

‘But the problem is virtually everybody is seeking to achieve this, particularly all those with gubernatorial ambitions. And in this treachery, deceit and distrust have crept in, in the bid to outwit one another’

‘As with most political ambitions, the aspirants believe in starting early and intimated confidants and just as it usually happens, words filtered around and they got whiffs of one another’s ambitions’

‘There are no open confrontations yet, but the tension and subterfuge of ideas and performances is beginning to tell and cracks quietly widening with sides been chosen’

Findings by societynowng.com revealed two very close friends, confidants and ardent loyalists of Governor Amosun leads the quiet but fierce combat of ambition.

Commissioners Muyiwa Oladipo and Bimbo Ashiru.

Oladipo, a former speaker of the Ogun State House of Assemble is the current Commissioner in charge of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs.

His gubernatorial ambition dates back to his ‘speakership’ days- and according to those close to him ‘the fire is still burning brightly in him’.

The position he occupies shows the esteem Governor Amosun holds him.

He is said to be quietly utilising the portfolio to strengthen his political base- ingrate himself with his political leaders in preparation for the battle ahead.

Oladipo’s moves are said not to escape Ashiru. He has a counter on ground already.

He is riding on great rapport with respected monarch, Awujale of Ijebuland- Oba Sikiru Adetona.

And his second joker? The former banker and commissioner for commerce is the arrow head of Governor Amosun’s investment prongs.

Thirdly- sources confirmed he has made himself politically indispensable to the Governor..Ashiru holds the key to Mr Amosun’s move to get presidential patronage. And also helping the state helmsman to trouble shoot political fights wielding the influence of Awujale.

Like Oladipo, Ashiru has informed friends and formed a think tank of close friends and confidants towards achieving his agenda.

Another splinter group but against those of these duo is that which commissioner for Education, Odubela Segun belongs.

This group sees the efforts by the Oladipos and Ashirus in Ogun government as ‘a big disloyalty and risk’

They hinge their stand on belief that ‘a very ambitious man is an unstable element to work with, because he only sees opportunities to further his ends- not for the general good’.

The Odubela splinter group are battling the others underground to prevent impromptu hijacking of Amosun’s political structure by those they tagged ‘the ambitious enemy within’

Sources claimed the fight and counter fights over who succeeds Amosun within and outside his camp, is quietly but speedily stifling the loyalty and trust that permeates his cabinet.

And naturally preparing a veritable theatre for a ‘tormentous political upheaval’ in days to come, a source claim.
