Dimeji Bankole Returns To Abeokuta, Ministerial Talks Soar

Dimeji Bankole, the former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives returned to Abeokuta, Ogun state on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

He was part of the entourage that welcomed President Bola Tinubu at the palace of the Alake of Abeokuta – otherwise known as the Alake of Egbaland -, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.

President Tinubu was in Ogun state on a two-part thank you visit that saw he visit the Palace of the Awujale of Ijebu-Ode (informally known as the Awujale of Ijebuland), Oba Sikiru Adetona and that of the Alake.

Bankole, touted as possible minister was on part of the entourage that welcomed the President at the last leg of his visit at the Palace of Alake.

The former Speaker’s “visibility” at the reception for President Tinubu is said to have soared talks by his supporters that he is on the cards for a ministerial appointment.

“His supporters claim that he was given special recognition that points to his next status” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

He was reportedly singled out for praises by President Tinubu for his electoral victory alongside immediate past Senator for Ogun Central, Ibikunle Amosun and Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The last time Bankole held a political office was in 2011 as Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives during his last leg as a two-term federal lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency on the bill of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Bankole was one of the Presidential aspirants on the bill of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election, he stepped and switched to a campaigner for President Tinubu after purchasing the party ticket for N100million.
