Details: Why Heritage Bank’s Most Senior Director May Not Replace Outgoing CEO, Ifie Sekibo
Heritage Bank sprouted from the ashes of Societe Generale Bank
The tenure of Ifiesimama Precious Sekibo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer is almost over.
Sekibo who was appointed as the pioneer Managing Director of Heritage Bank in 2021 has less than a year to hit the stipulated 10years allowed by law for a single person to occupy the position of Chief Executive Officer of a Bank.
Checks by societynow.ng revealed that as the Bank Chief who is better known by the shortened form of his name- Ifie Sekibo – prepares to leave office, all eyes are on the most senior Bank Director Jude Monye as a possible replacement.
Monye who joined Heritage Bank as the Executive Director, Enterprise Risk Management, and Chief Executive Officer in May 2015 is said to come with a rich profile – qualification and experience – that make him “a perfect fit” as a replacement.
The Director who is a member of the Institute of Credit Administration (ICA) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) is said to have shown a strong commitment to the growth and vision of the bank over the years.
Insiders, however, revealed that the graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Masters in Managerial Psychology, University of Ibadan, and an MBA degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and over 26 years of experience covering relationship management, credit risk management, control & Audit, financial control, and business development may not end up as a replacement for Sekibo.
“Though he appears very qualified and has an edge as a Senior Director, Monye may not end up as Sekibo’s successor because there are too many interests at play. The stakeholders are powerful and seemingly evenly match and there is an intense fight for control that may require shopping for a professional outside of the system to douse the tension” societynow.ng learned.
Heritage Bank which sprouted from the ashes of Societe Generale Bank has very influential stakeholders as the power behind the scene including former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
