Heritage Bank has revealed that one of the Senior Directors confirmed to be qualified is not a contender as a replacement for outgoing Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ifie Sekibo.

The revelation was made by spokesperson Blaize Udunze in a chat with societynow.ng.

Blaise called in a reaction to the report that Senior Director Jude Monye with over 26 years of banking experience covering relationship management, credit risk management, control & Audit, financial control, and business development who joined Heritage Bank as Executive Director, Enterprise Risk Management, and Chief Risk Officer in May 2015 is the contender as a replacement for Harvard trained Ifiesimama Precious Sekibo.

Appointed as the pioneer Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Bank in 2012, Ifie Sekibo as he is better known as already used 9 out of the 10years allowed by law for a single person to occupy his position.

Societynow.ng gathered that Sekibo who led the transformation of Heritage Bank from regional to a national bank – in 2014 – has less than a year left in office.

Though information at hand revealed Monye, Acting Managing Director at a time, is considered “the contender” as a replacement for the outgoing Sekibo – the Heritage Spokesperson who spoke to societynow.ng today, Monday, July 12, 2021, insists this not correct.

According to Udunze, “That story is not correct. It is not true..How can you say he is a contender. He is not a contender…It is the Central Bank that will determine who will be M.D (Managing Director).”

Blaize spoke for two minutes and twenty -six seconds and asserted that the report that the former acting Managing Director, Monye is a contender to replace Sekibo is not correct threw in that “I don’t want it in any media.”

Monye who is the only one still at Heritage Bank out of the three Executive Directors appointed in 2015 in a move Sekibo described as to “demonstrate the financial institution’s commitment to offering the best and safest banking services by employing highly competent and experienced bankers with proven track record” has Ph.D. in Credit Management and Administration from the London Postgraduate Credit Management College, UK and is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Masters in Managerial Psychology, University of Ibadan, and an MBA degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Listed as married with children, the Senior Director is a member of professional bodies such as Urban Financial Services Coalition (UFSC), Toronto, Canada, Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), the Institute of Credit Administration (ICA), and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) among others.
