Details: Why Aregbesola Remains Out Of Sight

Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has remained out of sight since Saturday’s presidential election.

Aregbesola is the estranged arch-loyalist of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Emerging details claimed he traveled out of the country for religious obligations (Umra in Saudi Arabia) during the election.

The minister who is believed to have stayed “the middle ground” in Saturday’s political contests based on “principle”.

The APC lost the Presidential election in Osun state where he was a former governor and all the Federal House of Representatives and Senatorial positions at stake to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC also lost the Presidential election in Alimosho Lagos where he was a significant political heavyweight before falling out with Tinubu to Labour Party (LP).

Tinubu, however, appears to be heading strongly toward becoming the next President of Nigeria based on the results announced so far across the country.

Aregbesola despite being a serving Minister has refused to be a part of the campaign for the Presidential bid of Tinubu right from the onset.

The minister fell out with Tinubu during the fight with former Governor Gboyega Oyetola over who controls the Government and APC in Osun state.

Oyetola succeeded Aregbesola as Governor of Osun state in 2018 but fell out with his predecessor within as a result of a supremacy tussle over who determines what.
